Pastor Colby A. Matlock Sr.

About Our Pastor

Colby A. Matlock, Sr. is a native of Nashville, TN and was reared in Prince George's County, MD as the third of four siblings. He hails from a family of educators. Both of his parents, Mr. Elmer Matlock and Mrs. Ruth Matlock, are currently teaching in the state of Maryland.

Pastor Colby A. Matlock is a part of the enduring legacy of Christian education having graduated from Pine Forge Academy. He also earned his B.A of Theology from Oakwood College and his Masters of Divinity Degree from Andrews University with an emphasis in Hospital Chaplaincy. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry Degree in Leadership at Andrews University.

From 1997-1998 he served as an intern at the Altgeld Gardens SDA Church in Chicago, IL under Elder J.D Parker. While in 1998-1999 he worked with Pastor Nevilon Meadows at the Independence Blvd. SDA Church also in Chicago, IL. He began his ministry in the A.E.C. as the assistant pastor to William E. Hall in 2000 where he served the North Philadelphia and Frankfort SDA Churches. In 2002-2003 he served as the senior pastor to the Unity SDA Church in Frederick, MD and the Berryville SDA in Virginia. And from 2003-2010 he pastored the Millsboro SDA Church in Delaware. On May 1, 2010 he was called to serve at Mount Olivet SDA Church in Camden, NJ.

Matlock is an advocate for the disenfranchised. He has been active in prison ministry his entire ministry. He is also passionate about community service and the development of the gifts of the members within the church to prepare them for service. Pastor Matlock brings all the wealth of his experience that has shaped him into a servant leader into his ministry and is determined to make the most of the opportunities that God has placed before him today.

He is happily married to the former Erica Suttle of Tulsa, OK and they are the proud parents of two boys, Colby and Judah.
